What’s the Overview of Acrel Protection Relay?

Acrel MiCOM Protection Relay is an economical protection device that integrates measurement, control, protection and communication.
It overcomes the problems of complex wiring, low reliability, and troublesome setting and debugging of traditional relay protection.
It has the characteristics of high integration, small size, and light weight.
It is convenient for centralized panel installation and decentralized installation.
The communication function also provides convenient conditions for realizing distribution network automation.

Function

What’s the Function of Acrel Protection Relay?

Feeder Protection

It can protect lines of different voltage levels (such as 110KV, 35kV and below),
monitor the current, voltage and other parameters in the line,
and respond quickly to overload, short circuit, leakage and other faults,
such as sending out alarm signals or directly tripping to cut off the faulty line to protect the safety of equipment and personnel.

Transformer Protection

Real-time monitoring of the transformer's operating status,
including parameters such as oil temperature, oil level, voltage, and current.
Timely protection is provided when the transformer is overloaded, short-circuited between turns, overheated oil, abnormal oil level, etc.,
to avoid transformer damage and ensure stable operation of the power system.

Motor Protection

During operation, the motor may encounter problems such as overload, underload, stall, short circuit, leakage, etc.
The protection relay can monitor and protect these faults to prevent the motor from being damaged due to faults,
thereby improving the service life and operating efficiency of the motor.

Capacitor Protection

Protect the capacitor according to its operation in the power system.
For example, when the capacitor has overvoltage, overcurrent, or internal component damage,
the protection relay can quickly detect and take corresponding measures
to ensure the normal operation of the capacitor.

Busbar Protection

The busbar is an important part of the power system for collecting and distributing electric energy.
The PT (voltage transformer) is used to measure busbar voltage and other parameters.
The protection relay can detect the busbar PT and promptly alarm or
take protective measures when the busbar voltage fluctuates abnormally or the PT is disconnected, etc.,
to ensure the safe and stable operation of the busbar.

Backup Power Protection

When the main power fails, the backup power supply automatic circuit can automatically switch to the backup power supply
to ensure the continuity of power supply.
The protection relay protects the backup power supply automatic circuit, monitors its operating status,
prevents failures during the switching process, and ensures smooth switching.

It can measure power parameters such as current, voltage, power factor, frequency, etc.
Through accurate measurement of these parameters,
it provides data support for power system operation analysis, electric energy metering, etc.
For example, in the daily operation of the power system,

and these data can be easily obtained through the measurement function of the protection relay.

Control

It can control switchgear such as circuit breakers.
For example, it can remotely control the opening and closing operations of circuit breakers,
which is convenient for operating and managing equipment during the dispatching and operation and maintenance of the power system.
When there is no one or few people on duty at the substation, the remote control function can be used to isolate the faulty equipment in time,
thus improving the operation and maintenance efficiency of the power system.

Communication

With the communication function, it can be used for data transmission.
This enables the microcomputer protection device to communicate with other devices
(such as monitoring systems, host computers, etc.)
to realize functions such as data collection, cloud storage, and configuration scene building.
Through the communication function, the collected power system operation data can be transmitted to the monitoring center,
which is convenient for operation and maintenance personnel to grasp the operation status of the power system in real time;
at the same time, it can also receive control instructions from the monitoring center and perform corresponding operations on the power equipment.
